I removed the following para from the PETA document:
"PETA Shelter Kills in Excess of 95% of Animals Left In Its Care
PETA operates a single animal shelter at 501 Front Street in Norfolk Virginia.
Virginia requires all animal shelters in the state to report on the disposition of animals left in its care.
For the year 2008, PETA reported 1,589 cats surrendered by owner. 1,569 were euthanized. 98.7% 3 were adopted.
584 dogs were surrendered, 555 were euthanized. 95% 4 were adopted."
First, your numbers do not reflect the actual stats contained in the link. According the the VACS document, the actual in take numbers are 10,016 "animals in it's care", including 6,378 cats and 3,317 dogs.

PETA administers humane euthanasia services for at least four shelters (where animals might otherwise by shot or gassed). Also, due to lack of facility space from area "no-kill" shelters; other "unadoptable", homeless and/ or owner surrenders are often dumped on the premises or into the care of staff members. However, the fact that VA and NC permit this organization to take responsibility for animals (who would otherwise be left to fend for themselves or killed inhumanely) does not alter the fact that PETA is an advocacy organization, not a shelter. They make no such claim to their members or anyone else. For complete statistics, see also Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services On-line Animal Reporting (VACS). [1]
This information was contained in the previous subsections, had you read it. Furthermore, under the circumstances (humane euthansia being performed at the request of impoverished and substandard area shelters), the title and tone of your para seem needlessly inflammatory.
