Hi, Jerry:

I deleted the creationism page but preserved your comments here for further consideration. Lisa AT prwatch.org

Creationism is the politically correct term for Intelligent Design. Simply, those who advocate for creationism already believe in creationism and then they look for the evidence to further that belief in mainstream society. In particular creationists believe in the Christian bible literally. For example, they believe almost to a man or woman that not only the earth or universe is 6000-10,000 years old but so is the earth. Often they believe the exact day of this creation can be calculated by adding up the number of years that individuals in the bible (starting with Adam) lived. Adam and other Old Testament Characters being people who lived for multiple centuries, a situation that is of course never seen anymore. Creationists answer such facts as light coming from stars and universes billions of light years away as "made by God in transit." If asked why they often answer because "God wants to test our faith." This deity also seems to want to test our so called faith in a number of ways. Such as planting fossils in geological layers in time periods that they existed also in order to test this faith. For example, one does not find dinosaur bones in with early reptiles. One does not find early hominds (basically bipedal primates such as us) with said dinosaur bones. Also questions creationists don't answer, such as why are lemurs (a primate) native only to the island of Madagascar? If the Noah's ark story was true, then wouldn't there be lemurs if not throughout the world, at least in mainland Africa? What, did this deity tell them not only not to stop or rest on their trip to Madagascar but to swim between Africa and the island? Did he build them a Brooklyn type bridge (but much, much longer) for them to cross over? Did this deity build an even bigger super long bridge for kangaroos and other marsupials in Australia to travel to from Asia? Evolution shows why lemurs and marsupials found only in their respective places, naturally. A group of one species became isolated from fellow members of that same species when landmasses moved away from each other because of shifting of tectonic plates tens or hundreds of millions of years ago. Madagascar moved away from Africa and Australia from Asia. So, members of the same species became isolated from each other and couldnt' interbreed. The lack of the ability to interbreed and exchange genes led to quite different gene pools where mutations and genetic changes of one were different from the other group. Creationists commonly want the government to teach creationism. Ideally they want schools not to teach evolution at all but since they don't have the political resources anymore to do that, they want the government to teach creationism by calling it "Intelligent Design." They don't want though teachers asking where this designer comes from, is it a deity or not. A designer would have to be more complex in all probability then what he designed. Again, a question that creationists don't want asked not only in schools but in larger society. Creationists normally say their deity doesn't need a cause but when it comes to science this isn't an answer but a dodge.
