Location

The undated satellite photo below shows the plant, which is located about 15 miles south of Singrauli on the northwest shore of Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar.^[1]

The station comprises 13 units, built in five stages between 1997 and 2015.^[2]^[3]^[4]

Unit 1 - 210 MW - 1987
Unit 2 - 210 MW - 1988
Unit 3 - 210 MW - 1989
Unit 4 - 210 MW - 1989
Unit 5 - 210 MW - 1990
Unit 6 - 210 MW - 1991

Unit 7 - 500 MW - 1999
Unit 8 - 500 MW - 2000

Stage III

Unit 9 - 500 MW - 2006
Unit 10 - 500 MW - 2007

Unit 11 - 500 MW - 2012
Unit 12 - 500 MW - 2013

Stage V

Unit 13 - 500 MW^[6] - had a planned start date of 2016,^[7] and was commissioned in August 2015.^[4]
