Yongchuan Songgai power station (重庆西彭开发投资重庆松溉发电公司), also known as Yongchuan-3 power station (永川发电厂异地扩建三期), is a 270-megawatt (MW) waste coal-fired power plant in Chongqing, China.

An additional 700 MW has been proposed.

Background on Plant

Yongchuan-3 power station is a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 270 MW. The plant was completed in 2008, and was originally owned by CPI.

Expansion

CPI is seeking permitting for a 2 x 350 MW supercritical coal plant at the power station.

2016: Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity

Due to new restrictions announced in 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled. Ownership

In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.
