{{#badges: CoalSwarm|Navbar-Chinacoal}} Port of Dandong is a rapidly growing port situated in China's Liaoning Province and on the west bank of the Yalujiang River estuary. Located on the border with North Korea, the port is a provides access to China for imports of coal from North Korea.[1]

Background
In 2008, the port could handle up to 32.5 million tons of cargo. It completed 43.5 million tons in 2009. The number rose to 55.05 million tons in 2010. In 2012 it reached a throughput of 96 million metric tons. The annual average growth surpassed 30% and ranked among the top 20 places. In the Twelfth Five Year Plan, the port is expected to reach a capacity of 400 million tonnes.[2] According to the port's website, Dandong has achieved notable results in developing negotiation and cooperation with the steel, coal, cereal and the other large enterprises. It has become strategic partner with the Benxi Steel Group Corporation to jointly establish the transit shipment base for the iron ore, the coal and the steels, and explore the coking coal, the iron ore and the other resources in Russia and Mongolia.[3]
In 2012, Li Xiang, a manager at Dandong Port Group, estimated the ports annual throughput at 50 million tons of iron and ore, 10 million tons of grain and food, and 40 million tons of coal.[4]
