Background
It is planned by the Romania Authority for Nuclear Activities (RAAN), a Government Business Enterprise. It would be situated at the existing coal-fired Romag Termo Power Station, also owned by RAAN.[1]
Plans are to increase the capacity of Romag Termo Power Station from 275 MW to 600 MW, through lignite coal gasification, as well as construct a new 400 MW coal gasification plant at the site, the Halanga Power Station. The estimated duration for full project implementation is 2011 to 2015.[1]
