New Vale mine

{{#badges: CoalNewZealand|Navbar-NZcoal}}The New Vale mine is an open cast lignite mine located near Waimumu, Gore in Eastern Southland, New Zealand. The mine is owned and operated by SOlid Energy, a New Zealand government owned coal mining company.[1][2]
Solid Energy is currently constructing the Mataura Lignite Briquetting Plant, a $25 million lignite briquette plant which is scheduled commissioning date of mid-2012. The plant is located the closed Matuara Opencast Mine site near the town of Matuara in Southland. The company aims to produce 90,000 tonnes of briquettes from approximately 150,000 tonnes of lignite sourced from the New Vale mine.[3][4]
