ActBlue is "the online clearinghouse for Democratic action," its website states. It is the nation's largest source of funds for Democrats. Started in 2004, "ActBlue created and deployed the next generation of online fundraising tools, enabling individuals and groups to raise money for the Democratic candidates and committees of their choice at In four years, ActBlue has sent more than $165 million to some 3200 candidates and committees from more than 420,000 donors, with a median contribution of only fifty dollars."[1]

ActBlue serves as a conduit for online contributions to Democratic candidates and committees. That is, ActBlue bundles and transmits earmarked contributions from individuals raised on their website to specific candidates.[2]

"Paid for by ActBlue ( and not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee. Contributions to ActBlue are not tax deductible." [1]
