The Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex 1 Parties under the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which is most commonly referred to by its acronym AWG-KP, was established to help develop an agreement to follow on from the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012.
The working group states on its website that its charter and associated work programme seeks to address: "(a) Analysis of mitigation potentials and ranges of emission reduction objectives of Annex I Parties; (b) Analysis of possible means to achieve mitigation objectives; (c) Consideration of further commitments by Annex I Parties."[1]
