African Rights "was established in 1992, when the military intervention in Somalia highlighted the need for an independent critical voice. The organization initially concentrated on examining the international approach to conflict and famine in Somalia, but soon developed human rights and justice oriented programmes in other parts of Africa." - African Rights co-directors: Rakiya Omaar and Alex de Waal [2]
African Rights has worked as a partner with the International Peace Academy. [3]
