Alissa J. Stern "is founding director of International Dispute Resolution Associates, a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., that specializes in helping companies and environmental organizations work more productively with one another. Among her firm's clients at various times have been Waste Management, Inc., Maxus Oil, World Wildlife Fund, and the U.S. Agency for International Development." [1]
- "Prior to IDR, Ms. Stern was the Program Director at the National Institute for Dispute Resolution, where she initiated the Institute's environmental and international programs and helped create a mechanism for the organization to become financially self-sufficient. Previously, Ms. Stern practiced environmental law at the law firm of Morrison & Foerster, consulted multinational institutions operating in Indonesia on environmental regulations, and taught environmental dispute resolution at the University of Indonesia Law School. Ms. Stern received a J.D. degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School in dispute resolution and environment and a B.A. degree, cum laude with Distinction from Cornell University in Anthropology and Southeast Asian Studies. Ms. Stern has published in the Harvard Business Review, the Harvard International Law Journal, and Environment Risk (a Euromoney publication). Ms. Stern speaks English and Indonesian." [2]
