Biographical Information

"Aminata Dramane Traorè, born in Bamako (Mali) in 1947, is one of the thinkers behind the African Social Forum. As Malian Minster of Culture (1997-2000), she became famous for her radical denouncements of neo-liberalism and the oppression of Africa. She currently collaborates with various international organizations as an expert in African economics and has one of the most original and listened to critical voices on the continent. For several years, she has actively followed the activities of the Social World Forum, bringing to the table, through initiatives dedicated to Africa, a point of view often forgotten or at most, considered marginal in the “third world” debate."
