Andrew Bacevich

Andrew J. Bacevich is a Retired U.S. Army Colonel, and a professor of international relations at Boston University. A self-described conservative, Bacevich is often defined by others as a Paleoconservative and/or realist. He is a strong proponent of a return to the concept of 'citizen soldier' in the American Military. He refuses to view causes for the current War Upon Iraq or the Global War in Terror as a Democrat-OR-Republican binary issue, and instead states that any view of current American Policy needs to be viewed through a historical lens that stretches through many past presidential administrations. Bacevich is especially hard on the post Coldwar Administrations of George H.W. Bush, William Jefferson Clinton and George W. Bush. Bacevich began his criticism of the Bush administration's prosecution of the GWOT as early as November 2001. [1]

Biographical data

Andrew J. Bacevich was born 1947 in Normal, Illinois, the son of two WWII veterans. He graduated from West Point in 1969 and served in Vietnam from the summer of 1970 to the summer of 1971. He continued through a military career that ended in the eary 1990s, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
