Background on Plant
The first coal-fired unit of Anhui Xuancheng power station was brought online in 2008.[2] The plant is owned by SDIC.[3][4]
SDIC planned a second coal-fired unit at this plant, with a capacity of 660MW. The new unit was completed in 2015.[5]
Description of Expansion
Plans exist to build a third and fourth unit of 1,000 MW each. The plan has been listed in Anhui Province Power Development 13th 5-Year Plan as a back-up project.[6][7]
2016: Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity
Due to new restrictions announced during 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled. For details, see China's 2016 Restrictions on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity.
SDIC rules out new coal
