Anonymous sources

An appeal or attribution of information to a powerful and knowing person of high stature who is so important that the identity must remain secret. It can be used to present true information where the source must be protected from retaliation or the information can be false and used to manipulate the audience in which case there may be no source other than the presenter of the fale information.

Information attributed to anonymous sources needs to be investigated to verify its truth.
