Ashtabula IGCC Generating Facility
{{#Badges:CoalSwarm}} Nordic Energy, an energy services company, teamed up with Gasification Engineering Corp. (a Global Energy company) to propose an Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) plant near Ashtabula, Ohio in 2002. [1]
In its 2004 Annual Report, the Ohio Power Siting Board noted that a "high sulfur coal was proposed as the feedstock to the gasification process. A public informational meeting was held on Dec. 10, 2002. The applicant has not filed an application with the Board." [2]
Nordic Energy has yet to begin to file for permits with the Ohio Power Siting Board and the Ohio EPA. As of December 2007, it appears that Nordic Energy and Global Energy are no longer pursuing the project.
According to the Sierra Club, the project was abandoned in 2006.[3]
