Asnaes (Asnæs) power station was a 782-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station in Sjælland, Denmark.
It is being converted to biomass, planned for completion in 2019.

Background
Asnæs was Denmark's largest power station. It consisted of the following units: Units 1 and 2 of 142 MW each, units 3 and 4 of 270 MW each, and unit 5 of 640 MW, commissioned from 1959 to 1981.[1]
Units 1 and 3 were retired in 1998 and 2002, and unit 4 mothballed in 2002.[2]
Units 2 and 5 were temporarily taken offline but put back on-line in 2011.[3] According to DONG's website (April 2016), the plant currently delivers 782 MW of electricity.[4]
Plans are to convert the plant to biomass by 2018.[5]
Conversion began in 2017. The plant will run mainly on wood chips and is expected to be operational by late 2019.[6]
