Aurelien Colson

Dr. Aurélien Colson "is Development Director of the Institute for Research and Education on Negotiation in Europe (IRENE), at ESSEC Business School, Paris. Since 1998 he has been teaching negotiation, conflict management, and team building at ESSEC for MBA students and for corporation executives. He has also done research, consulting and trainings worldwide for companies (Actelion Pharma, The Boston Consulting Group, Canal+, Caisses d’Epargne, Delphi, Disney, Essilor, Faurecia, Gemplus, MPI, Philips, Renault-Nissan, Saint-Gobain, Scientific Atlanta, TBWA, Thales, etc.) and public organizations, both in France and abroad (from Canada to Burundi and from Tadjikistan to Cyprus). Since 1998 he is also a lecturer in negotiation at ENA –France’s national administration school– where he was promoted in 2002 to coordinator of the IRENE negotiation seminar, leading a team of 20 lecturers. Since 2004, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) has asked him to conduct negotiation workshops in Geneva and at the Central Bank of Venezuela. He also contributes to the Burundi Leadership Training Program on behalf of IRENE and with the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars.

"Dr. Colson has published a book with Alain Pekar Lempereur, Méthode de négociation (Paris: Dunod, 2004, 5th print). He has also written many articles in Le Monde, Le Devoir, Foresight, Futuribles, Futures, Revue française de gestion, Personnel, and International Relations. From 1998-2002, he was an Advisor to the French Prime Minister, Lionel Jospin. From 2002-2005, he was Project Leader at the French Government’s strategy agency. He led a task force on change management and negotiation in the public sector.

"Dr. Colson holds BA degrees from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris and the ESSEC MBA. As a Fellow from the British Council, he received a Master and a PhD in International Conflict Analysis from the University of Kent in Canterbury. A member of the British International Studies Association, he is a Fellow of the 21st Century Trust in London. In 2002 he was awarded a Marshall Memorial Fellowship by the German Marshall Fund of the United States."
