The company proposes that the plant comprise two 250MW units. The Company's summary of the Environmental Impact Assessment provides no background information on the company itself.[1]
In a summary of its Environmental Impact Assessment BEC Power states that the project would require 2.96 million tonnes of coal a year for the 500MW plant. The company stated in late 2010 that it was seeking a coal linkage from the Ministry of Coal for a allocation from either South Eastern Coalfields Limited's mine in the Korba area or Mahanadi Coalfields Limited mines in Raigarh and the Ib-Valley.[1]
