Background on Project

In January 2014, PT Bidznillah Tambang Nusantara (BTN) signed an engineering, procurement, & construction (EPC) contract with China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach) to build a three-unit, 450-MW coal-fired power plant in Riau Province. The plant would cost $675 million, and construction would take four years. BTN stated in April 2014 that it had financing in place for the plant. BTN planned to begin construction by the end of 2014, and to complete it by mid-2018. As of late 2014, however, construction had apparently not yet begun.

As of May 2018, no further developments with the project have been reported in four years, and it appears to be cancelled.
