Background on Plant
The plant was proposed in The Indonesia Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) for 2018-2027, to be fueled by either coal or gas.[1] The Plan cites the delay in building a 500 kV transmission line between Java and Bali as a reason for building the plant.[1]
The project is cancelled in the 2019-2028 RUPTL and replaced with a plan to provide electricity to Bali through an undersea cable.[2]
