Background on Plant
The seven-unit, 304-MW coal-fired Barabinsk power station is owned by Sibeko. The plant is a combined heat and power plant; it produces around 100 MW of electricity, as well as heat.[1][2] In March 2018 it was announced that the plant would switch from burning bituminous coal to lignite because lignite is cheaper.[3]
In January 2018 Siberian Generating Company (SGK) acquired 78% ownership of Sibeko.[4] In August 2018 SGK was acquired by Siberian Coal Energy Company (SUEK).[5]
