Bearwood is controlled by Michael Ashcroft, who is not domiciled in the UK for tax purposes, but in Belize, where the tax regime is rather less onerous.[1] "According the Bearwood accounts, the company's main source of funds comes from Stargate Holdings, its parent company based in Belize. The registered address is shared with that of the Belize Bank, which is owned by Lord Ashcroft's company BB Holdings." [2]
