Background on Plant

The six-unit, 1,260-MW coal-fired Belovskaya power station is owned by SUEK. The plant’s six units were brought online between 1964 and 1968.

Accidents

In July 2019 a woman and her young daughter drowned after being pulled into an intake valve in a reservoir that feeds water to the plant.
