Background

Moabit CHP plant was first put into operation in 1900. From 1987 and 1989, large parts of the old CHP plant were replaced with a new heating block. In 1990, the plant was given a new circulating fluidized bed combustion system. In 2013, the plant was retrofitted for co-combustion of biomass. Up to 40% of the thermal output can be generated by biomass.[1]
