Background

The project would comprise four 135 MW units. According to an environmental impact assessment (EIA) prepared for the project in 2009, land acquisition for the project has been partially completed. According to the assessment, there are 30,118 people residing within a 10-kilometer radius of the plant location. In addition, 13 reserved forests are located within the same radius.[1]

In 2014 project sponsor Mahavir submitted an EIA for a coal washery project, but did not include plans for a power station.[2]
