Big Bend Climate Action Team (BBCAT) is an environmental organization formed in June 2005 in Tallahassee, Florida, in response to concerns about global warming. BBCAT has three goals:

  • To promote a reduction in use of fossil fuels and greater use of clean energy by government entities (city, county, state, Big Bend region, and educational), private enterprise, and individuals.
  • To monitor and oppose any activities that increase carbon emissions in the Big Bend region, especially the building of coal-burning power plants.
  • To keep abreast of climate and energy developments and help inform a broad range of communities through outreach and education.
