Background on Plant

GMR signed an MOU with the Government of Madhya Pradesh in 2010 to set up a Thermal Power Plant in the Niwari block of Tikamgarh district. The GMR website says the plant has been under project development since 2011. The project received a terms of reference in 2010, but has not applied for an environmental clearance, and appears to be abandoned.
