Bình Định power station is a proposed 3,200-megawatt (MW) coal plant complex in Bình Định province, Vietnam.

Location
The map below shows the location of Cát Thành village, the approximate location where the plant would be built, in Phù Cát district, Bình Định province.
Background
Appendix II of Vietnam's 2011-20 National Master Plan for Power Development, approved in July 2011, lists two coal-fired power plants totaling 3,200 MW in Bình Định province: the two-unit, 1,200-MW Than Bình Định-1, to be constructed by 2026-27; and the two-unit, 2,000-MW Than Bình Định-2, to be constructed by 2029.[1]
In April 2015, representatives of Thai companies Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), STFE Company, and KST Energy Development met with Bình Định provincial officials and expressed interest in the project. A Thai conglomerate including some of the same companies is already planning to build an oil refinery in Bình Định.[2]
