Borders and Maritime Security Division
The Borders and Maritime Security Division of the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate aims to develop and implement technologies that will enhance the security of U.S. borders and waterways.
Mrs. Anh N. Duong is the Director for the Borders and Maritime Security Division.

Projects
A list of Borders and Maritime Security Division projects can be found here. Projects include efforts to monitor cargo entering the U.S., including the development of shipping container security and scanning technologies to detect smuggling and other threats. The Division also develops technology to improve border security such as developing wireless border data networks and border detection grids, urban tunnel detection, and technologies to allow border officers to effectively do their job (such as facial recognition technology, less-lethal weapons development, lighter weight equipment, etc).
Operations
The Division is staffed by technical officials, and partner with academia, national laboratories and industries, such as Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
