Brenthurst Foundation
"The Oppenheimer family established The Brenthurst Foundation in October 2004. Its origins lay in the Brenthurst Initiative of August 2003, a programme that instigated a debate in South Africa around policy strategies to achieve higher rates of economic expansion.
"Launched by Nicky and Jonathan Oppenheimer in 2003, The Brenthurst Initiative argued that successful transformation and Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment in South Africa required a sustained higher economic growth rate of at least 5% per annum. It concluded that in order for South Africa to achieve higher growth rates, foreign investor perceptions of relatively high risk needed to be addressed and overcome. "[1]
