Butovskaya coal mine is an operating underground coal mine in the Kemerovo Oblast, Russia.

The mine is operated by Industrial Metallurgical Holdings which consumes the coal in the process of making steel.

Location

The Butovskaya mine lies just north of Kemerovo in the Kemerovo Oblast, Siberia, Russia.

Coal Mine Background

Industrial Metallurgical Holdings purchased a mining license for this mine in 2004. The first stage was commission in 2013 and the second stage in 2017. An expansion, to reach 2.7 million tonnes production per year, is under development. Coal is shipped for processing to Berezovskaya washing plant where coal concentrate is produced.
