CPI Qinghe power station (中电投清河发电厂一期) is a 1,400-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Liaoning Province, China.

Location
The photo shows the location of the plant in Qinghe District, Tieling Prefecture, Liaoning Province.
Background on Plant
The first eight coal-fired units of CPI Qinghe power station, totaling 1,200 MW, were brought online between 1970 and 1984. The plant was originally owned by CPI. Units 1-4 were 100 MW each, and units 5-8 are 200 MW each.[1]
Of them, only unit 8 totaling 200 MW is still operating, as of 2018. The six earliest subcritical units of the plant, units 1-6, were retired from 2007 to 2010, and were replaced by two 600 MW supercritical units in 2010-2011. The new units are referred to as units 9-10.[2][3][4][5][6] Unit 7 (200 MW) was retired in 2018.[7]
Ownership
In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[8]
