Background on Project
CPI is seeking permitting for a 2 x 350 MW coal plant in Ergong Town, Tacheng.[1]
Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity
In January 2017 China's National Energy Administration suspended over 100 planned and under-construction coal power projects with a total capacity of over 100GW in 13 provinces, including CPI Tacheng Cogen power station. It is unclear when or if the projects will be revived.[2]
For details, see China's 2016 Restrictions on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity.
Ownership
In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[3]
