Campaign for Working Families
The Campaign for Working Families is a conservative political action committee that raised more than $7 million from 1997-1998, becoming the fifth largest PAC in the country at that time, according to People for the American Way.[1] It contributed $148,750 exclusively to Republicans and conservative groups and made almost $500,000 in independent expenditures for Republicans or against Democrats in the 2012 election cycle, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.[2] It is chaired by Gary Bauer, who sought the nomination of the Republican Party as a U.S. presidential candidate in 2000 but pulled out after the February 2000 primaries.
