Cesar L. Alvarez
Cesar L. Alvarez "is president and chief executive officer of Greenberg Traurig LLP, one of the nation's fastest growing law firms. Most recently, he served as campaign chair for the United Way of Miami-Dade and currently serves on the board of directors of several publicly-traded corporations and numerous other charitable organizations, including the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. In 2001, the Hispanic National Bar Association named him Attorney of the Year. Mr. Alvarez has served as a Board member of Intrexon "since 2008. Mr. Alvarez is the Senior Chairman of the international law firm of Greenberg Traurig, LLP. He previously served as the law firm’s Executive Chairman for more than three years, beginning in 2012, and as its Chief Executive Officer from 1997 until his election as Executive Chairman. During his tenure as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman, Mr. Alvarez led the firm to become one of the top ten law firms in the United States by leading its growth from 325 lawyers in eight offices to approximately 1,850 attorneys and government professionals in more than 36 locations in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Mr. Alvarez also serves as: Chairman of the board of directors of Mednax, Inc. (NYSE: MD), a provider of physician services, including newborn, maternal-fetal, pediatric subspecialties, and anesthesia care; Vice Chairman of the board of directors of Watsco, Inc. (NYSE: WSO), a distributor of air conditioning, heating and refrigeration equipment and related parts and supplies; director of Fairholme Funds, Inc. (FAIRX), a family of publicly traded focused investment funds; and The St. Joe Company (NYSE: JOE), a real estate development company.
