Charles E. Walker
Dr. Charles E. Walker, according to a news article issued September 26, 2001, by the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, "served as assistant and economic advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury in the second Dwight D. Eisenhower Administration and Deputy Secretary of the Treasury in the first Richard M. Nixon Administration. He holds the Alexander Hamilton award, the highest award granted in the Treasury.
"Dr. Walker served as co-chairman of the 1976 presidential debates. He is a past chairman of President Nixon's Committee on Minority Enterprises and was chairman of Governor Ronald Reagan's tax task force in the 1980 presidential campaign. He is currently a Senior Advisor to the Center for Deliberative Polling at The University of Texas.
"In the 1950's, Dr. Walker served as an economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Special Assistant to the President of the Republic National Bank of Dallas, and Vice President and Economic Advisor to the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. From 1961 to 1969, he was Executive Vice President of the American Bankers Association.
"Active in forming citizens' groups to promote public policy, in 1976 he co-founded the Committee on the Present Danger to help maintain U.S. military strength against the Soviet Union. He is co-founder and past co-chairman of the Bretton Woods Committee. He is founder and chairman of the American Council for Capital Investment and the ACCF Center for Policy Research.
"Dr. Walker has been honored by the Urban League for his contributions to minority enterprise and education and by the National Council on Economic Education for his contributions to raising the public level of economic understanding. He has co-edited a number of books on banking and capital formation and has contributed numerous articles to economic journals, magazines, and national newspapers. He was a commentator on Nightly Business Report and appeared frequently on other national television shows such as Today, The MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour, and C-Span.
"Walker is Adjunct Professor of Finance and Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin, Adjunct Professor of Business Administration at Texas A&M University, and Visiting Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Business Management at Emory University. Earlier in his career he taught at both the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and Georgetown University."
