Charlie Methven

Biography

"Charlie is the founder of Dragon Associates. He began his career in journalism, spending ten years writing for national newspapers. Starting as a reporter on the Sporting Life, he moved to The Daily Telegraph in 1998, where he worked as a reporter and then as editor of the paper's famous "Peterborough" diary column for four years. Subsequently, he wrote his own by-lined column in the Saturday edition, as well as writing Leaders.

"In 2005, together with former Telegraph Chief Executive Jeremy Deedes, he raised £12 million to launch sports betting publication The Sportsman, the UK's first new national daily newspaper for 20 years. When the Sportsman ran out of funds in late 2006, Charlie decided to move into the world of communications, becoming Managing Director of corporate PR consultancy New Century.

"Having helped to quadruple revenues in the four years he spent at New Century, Charlie left the firm in June 2011 to found Dragon Associates, which opened its doors on 1 September of the same year. Charlie was educated at Eton College and Oxford University; his hobbies include golf, horse racing and following Oxford United, where he is a trustee of the youth academy."
