Background
The power station consisted of five units that power the Evonik Marl chemical plant, owned by Evonik Industries. Three of the units were coal-fired, commissioned from 1968 to 1983.[1]
In 2017 one coal unit was retired, leaving two coal-fired units totaling 136 MW.[2]
