The Child In Need Institute was founded in 1974 with two health clinics for deprived children in Kolkata. Over the years it has grown into an award-winning non-government organisation (NGO) and a pioneer in the field of community health, reaching approximately five million marginalised people across north-eastern India.

"In order to maximise our impact, we use our expertise to train other NGO staff, including those from UNICEF, CARE India and CRY (Child Rights & You).."
