Background on Plant
Chongqing Jiulong power station is a single unit coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 200MW. The plant was completed in 1996, and is owned by CPIC. 7 earlier units of 12MW each were retired in 1994.[1][2]
The plant was retired in October 2014, due to its inability to meet new emission standards. The retirement followed a years-long public opposition campaign against the plant's pollution.[3]
Ownership
In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[4]
