Shuanghuai power station (中电投重庆合川双槐电厂) is a 1,920-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Chongqing Municipality, China.

Background on Plant

The two existing coal-fired units of Shuanghuai power station, totaling 600 MW, were brought online in 2006. The plant is owned by CPI and Chongqing Energy Investment Group.[1]

Description of Expansion

The plant's owners are currently planning to build two additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total planned capacity of 1,320 MW.[2][3][4][5]

Units 3 and 4 were completed in June 2013 and September 2014 respectively.[6] [7][8]

Ownership

In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[9]
