Background

The Choudwar power station is a captive power facility that comprises two older 54 MW coal-based units, a 30 MW dual-fuel unit which operates on a mixture of coal & furnace gas, and two newly built 60 MW coal-based units.

While the output primarily serves the power needs of the ferro alloys plant, there is some surplus which is supplied to the State Grid. The power station is owned and operated by Indian Metals & Ferro.
