Coalition for Economic Growth and American Jobs
The Coalition for Economic Growth and American Jobs is the working title for a coalition of business groups seeking to counter growing support for anti-outsourcing legislation.
According to the Wall Street Journal the key backers of the proposed coalition are the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Business Roundtable, National Association of Manufacturers, the American Bankers Association and the Information Technology Association of America.
Bills aimed at restricting international outsourcing have been introduced in approximately 30 states. The bills cover everything from requiring call center employees to disclose the location of where they are to restriction on companies bringing workers into the U.S. on guest visas.
Executive vice president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Bruce Josten, told AP that the coalition had already suceeded in the defeat of bills in New Mexico and Virginia.
