Cogeneracion Salina Cruz power station is a proposed 517- or 800-megawatt (MW) gas-fired power plant in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico.

Background

In 2015, Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) selected Enel and Abengoa to build a 517-MW cogeneration plant in Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, Mexico for the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE). The plant would be built at the Antonio Dovalí Jaime refinery and provide power to the refinery. "Preliminary engineering work" began in February 2016.

In March 2016, Abengoa dissolved the partnership with Enel.

In 2018, Pemex liquidated its subsidiary Pemex Cogeneration and Services, which was dedicated to generating and commercializing electrical and thermal energy.

In 2019, Mexico's Ministry of Energy said that CFE planned to build an 800-MW plant at the refinery that would power more than just the refinery.
