Dan Connell "is currently a Lecturer in Journalism and African Politics at Simmons College. His reports and commentary have appeared in The Boston Globe, Foreign Affairs, The Guardian, Middle East Report, The Miami Herald, The Nation, Review of African Political Economy, and other North American and European media. A two-time MacArthur Foundation grantee, Connell is the author of five books on Africa, including Against All Odds: A Chronicle of the Eritrean Revolution (1997), Rethinking Revolution: New Strategies for Democracy & Social Justice (2002) and a two-volume collection of his Eritrea articles from 1976 to 2002 (vol 1 & vol 2). He has also consulted for international development agencies and human rights organizations, and he is the founder and former director of the Boston-based Grassroots International." [1]
