The Datang Yuncheng power station (大唐郓城630℃超超临界二次再热国家电力示范项目) is a proposed 2,000-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station in Shandong province, China.

Background on Plant

China Datang has proposed a power station of two units of 1,000 MW each in Heze city. The project feasibility study was submitted in 2014.

2016: Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity

Due to new restrictions announced during 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled.

Specifically, Shandong has been designated a red light province under the country's traffic light policy. Red light provinces should restrict new coal plant development.

2017: Project receives permit

In November 2017, unit 1 received environmental clearance toward construction. It is scheduled to start construction at the end of 2018 and be put into operation in the first half of 2021. The project is described as an "ultra-supercritical secondary reheating national power demonstration project", which may exempt it from national restrictions.
