Denis Dutton is a public intellectual and an apparent global warming skeptic on action, akin to Bjorn Lomborg. He has been a co-founder and co-editor of the websites Arts and Letters Daily, Climate Debate Daily and cybereditions.com.[1]. As of Jan. 1 2010, he was described as a professor of philosophy at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.[2]

Background

Dutton is from Los Angeles, California and was educated at the University of California Santa Barbara. He taught at several US universities before emigrating to New Zealand: the University of California, Santa Barbara and the University of Michigan–Dearborn.

Writings

"Apocalyptic scenarios are a diversion from real problems...needing intelligent attention. ...turning practical problems into cosmic cataclysms takes us further away from actual solutions. This applies, in my view, to...popular climate catastrophism. Such entertaining visions owe less to scientific climatology than to eschatology"[2]
