Background

The Devgad UMPP was on a list of potential Ultra Mega Power Projects published in February 2012 by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. The list showed a proposed 4000 megawatt (MW) coal plant in Munage village, Devgad taluk, Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra state, India.[1]

However, as of April 2014 this project does not appear on lists of Ultra Mega Projects, and it appears to have been abandoned.
