Background

The Devgad UMPP was on a list of potential Ultra Mega Power Projects published in February 2012 by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. The list showed a proposed 4000 megawatt (MW) coal plant in Munage village, Devgad taluk, Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra state, India.

However, as of April 2014 this project does not appear on lists of Ultra Mega Projects, and it appears to have been abandoned.
