Location
The photo below shows the plant, in Fuyuan County, Qujing Prefecture, Yunnan Province. As of November 2014, only four rather than six units are shown in the photograph.
Background on Plant
Diandong power station is a four-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 3,600 MW in Yunnan Province. The first four units, totaling 2,400 MW, were completed between 2006 and 2008. An additional two units, Units 5 & 6, totaling 1,200 MW, have been reported but do not appear to have been built. The plant is owned by China Huaneng.[1][2][3]
